Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mo Dahoud has rejected a contract extension as Liverpool prepare to offer £25million for him.
The 20-year-old midfielder is understood to be at the top of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s wanted list this summer and reports have claimed a bid is on its way this summer.
Monchengladbach do not want to sell the young starlet and tried to get him to commit himself to a new long-term deal in order to ward off the Anfield interest.
But it seems to have backfired and Dahoud has told them he won’t be signing a new deal – with his present contract running through to 2018.
That gives the Bundesliga club an idea of his thinking and it could force them into reluctantly selling the Syrian-born German Under-21 international.
In 41 competitive matches for Borussia last season, 33 of them starts, Dahoud scored five goals and registered nine assists – an impressive tally for one so young.
Monchengladbach general manager Max Eberl said: “The transfer market starts now but really he should take the next step with us.”
