The Italian defender worked under Alan Pardew for three years at Newcastle and the Palace manager now wants him back in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.
Santon was a bit-part player for Roberto Mancini’s Inter last season, making just 12 Serie A appearances for the San Siro club.
According to Sky Italia, Santon will be available on the cheap this summer and Palace are understood to be readying a £3m bid for the 25-year-old.
Santon began his senior career with Inter before joining Newcastle in 2011, but his progress has stalled since he left St James’ Park.
However, Pardew has apparently spoken to Santon and told him a move to Palace will help him regain a place in Italy’s national side.
