Crocked Wales star set for shock Euro 2016 comeback: Midfielder could play opening game

The 29-year-old midfielder looked to be a major doubt for the finals in France when he suffered a fracture to his left leg on May 7 playing for Crystal Palace.

But the former Cardiff and Celtic man has made incredible progress, and was able to carry out fitness and ball work during last week’s training camp in Portugal.

And, having overcome one obstacle by being named in Chris Coleman’s final 23 for the tournament, he is in contention to start against the Slovakians in Bordeaux on June 11.

“As it stands Joe is in the mix for Slovakia, he has a real good chance,” said Wales boss Coleman.
