Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent says he would love to join Chelsea and claims Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Sunderland forward.
The 31-year-old is set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer having failed to settle in the north-east since joining from Juventus in 2013, spending last season on loan at Bologna.
Bologna are keen to sign the versatile Italian permanently but Giaccherini has put thoughts on his future on hold until after Euro 2016, where he has been handed starts in both of Italy’s matches so far by Azzurri coach Conte.
The incoming Blues boss is a big fan of Giaccherini having also worked with him while in charge of Juventus and the player’s agent has now indicated he would jump at the chance to join him at Stamford Bridge should the Blues come calling this summer.
“Giaccherini is a player who played 80 per cent of the games for a Juventus that had Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio in the midfield,” Furio Valcareggi told Italian outlet SportItalia.
“Conte likes him a lot and Chelsea would be a dream.
“It’s still too early to talk about his future. After the Euros, whoever wants to buy him will not have to pay a high price to Sunderland.”
