Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is still hoping to bring in more signings this summer but he admits the transfer market is “crazy”.
Chelsea have already splashed out more than £60million to recruit Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi and Leicester’s N’Golo Kante this summer, but Conte is still looking for more additions, with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku a top target.
Former Italy head coach Conte remained coy on his plans, but admitted Chelsea are biding their time while attempting to gain value for money on further new signings.
Manchester United laid out a world record £89million fee to bring France midfielder Pogba back to Old Trafford from Juventus, and Conte believes the current transfer market is overinflated.
“For all the clubs, it’s a crazy transfer market,” said Conte. “Not for Chelsea, in general. This market is a bit crazy, because when you try to buy one or another player, the cost is very, very expensive, and not the real valuation of the player.
“And it’s a very strange situation. But now we are waiting for the right solution for the club.”
