Confirmed: Liverpool made to pay record fee for Danny Ings to Burnley

The failure of the two clubs to agree a compensation package meant representatives from the two clubs and Ings, himself, appeared before the panel which was convened by the Premier League.

In addition, Burnley will also receive 20pc of any future profit Liverpool make on Ings should he be sold.

Ings has been sidelined since October after damaging his cruciate knee ligaments in the days after making his debut for England, but is currently closing in on a comeback.

Burnley are currently top of the Championship on goal difference and are poised to return to the Premier League next season.
