Stoke chairman Peter Coates says their interest in Portugal star Nani has nothing to do with the future of Marko Arnautovic.
Assistant boss Mark Bowen has confirmed the rumours that Stoke are interested in signing the former Manchester United star, who looks set to leave Fenerbahce this summer.
That has kicked off suggestions that Stoke are lining Nani up as a possible replacement for Arnautovic, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the bet365 Stadium.
The Austrian international has yet to pen a new deal but the Potters are working hard to ensure he stays. Either way, Coates insists their interest in Nani is not connected.
“This has no bearing on us wishing to keep Marko Arnautovic, which is something we are still working on,” Coates revealed when quizzed about the Nani links.
Nani could be available for just £7million and is more likely to be a replacement for the injured Ibrahim Afellay.
