Claudio Ranieri: What Leicester win over Sunderland means for our title hopes

Spurs’ demolition of Manchester United leaves them seven points adrift of the Foxes but that result ensures Ranieri’s marvels will be mixing it with Europe’s elite next season.

An emotional Ranieri was visibly moved after the final whistle as he applauded the 3,000 away fans inside the Stadium of Light.

And afterwards, the Italian revealed it was the sight of an old lady, bedecked in Leicester colours, he spotted from the team bus, which had inspired him.

“It is fantastic when you see an old lady in Leicester shirts outside the stadium before the match,” he said.

“It was emotional seeing so many of our fans.”
