Aston Villa centre-back Ciaran Clark reportedly has a £5million release clause and has been freshly linked with a move to West Brom.
The Baggies submitted a bid for the Republic of Ireland international last summer but were rebuffed and signed alternative targets instead.
Whether Albion would pursue Clark with the same vigour this summer, having subsequently signed Jonny Evans and James Chester, remains to be seen.
Clark signed a new five-year deal at Villa Park following the Albion interest last year and it has now been reported that the deal contains a £5million release clause.
The 26-year-old’s agents could be testing the water again after Villa’s relegation from the top flight, although the player himself hasn’t indicated he’s unhappy at the club.
A product of Villas youth system, Clark has made more than 150 appearances in all competitions.
