Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has likened reported West Brom target Aden Flint to Albion’s current central defender Gareth McAuley.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis has been tipped to launch a £2million raid for Flint in the summer after being impressed with scouting reports on him this season and when seeing him live in Albion’s two FA Cup battles against the Robins.
Flint has been a consistent performer for the Ashton Gate outfit this term and was recognised in February when he picked up the Championship Player of the Month award.
Johnson has stressed that he wants to keep Flint on board as the club but he can understand why there is so much interest.
He told the Western Daily Press: “It does not surprise me at all. You’ve only got to look at someone like Gareth McAuley to see what is possible.
“He went to the Premier League at the same age as Aden Flint is now and went on to have a really good career.
“I have no doubt he can do it at an even higher level. I’ve no doubt he has a Premier League future ahead of him and, hopefully, it is with us.”
