Rafa Benitez hopes to use experienced striker Papiss Cisse as much as possible in Newcastle’s relegation fight.
Senegal international Cisse, who has 36 Premier League goals in just over 100 appearances in total for the Magpies, is now fit again and Benitez believes he can be a significant weapon in the crucial run-in to the end of the season.
When asked what his side need over the next few weeks, the former Liverpool boss said: “People with experience like Papiss Cisse who know the atmosphere and all about playing in front of 52,000 people.
“I think you have to be sure you know what you will get on the pitch.”
Newcastle sit second bottom in the table, three points from safety with just eight games remaining, and are next in action when they travel to fellow strugglers Norwich a week on Saturday.
