Feyenoord youth Tahith Chong has confirmed he is joining Manchester United.
A source told ESPN FC last month that Chong, 16, was close to agreeing a transfer to Old Trafford and the forward has now confirmed the move.
Chong had told FR12.nl in January that he wanted to stay at De Kuip despite United’s interest, but he explained to Elf Voetbal: “It was my intention to stay at Feyenoord, but no plan was made for me. When I said I wanted to leave, they came up with a plan. That was too late.”
Chong attracted interest from several leading Premier League clubs after impressive displays in front of scouts.
He said he made the decision to join United because they and Arsenal were more willing to give young players a chance than Chelsea and Manchester City.
He added: “United gave me a better feeling. You can feel it immediately when you walk in a club.”
Chong, a Netherlands youth international, joined Feyenoord as a 10-year-old.
