Chelsea have confirmed Nathan Ake has joined Premier League rivals Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal.
The Dutchman, who can play at left-back and in midfield, spent last season on loan at Watford and is now set for a similar spell with Eddie Howe’s side.
Despite Ake’s potential, he is unlikely to force his way into the Chelsea first-team squad next season and a loan move will help his development.
A story on chelseafc.com read: “Nathan Ake will spend the 2016-17 season on loan at Bournemouth.
“The 21-year-old moves to the south coast having also spent last season in the Premier League at Watford, where his performances at left-back won the club’s young player of the year award and helped them reach the FA Cup semi-final.”
Ake, a Netherlands Under-21 international, signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge last year and has made 12 appearances for his parent club.
