Jason Cundy insists Romelu Lukaku is not worth £75million.
The Stamford Bridge club is reportedly ready to offer £65m plus Loic Remy to seal a deal for the 23-year-old, but the Merseysiders are holding out for that bumper fee. And Cundy has questioned the wisdom of spending that amount of money on the forward.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar show on Tuesday night, he said: “I’m still not completely and utterly convinced by him [Lukaku]. I wouldn’t have sold him [from Chelsea], because I saw the potential of this kid.
“But his performances at times, I find he can be just a bit of a waste of space. He goes missing in some games, the ball bounces off him, his hold up play could be better.
“Yes, he scores goals but [if you’re asking me if he’s worth that money], I think there’s more to come from this boy. To be worth that type of money – £75million? I don’t see a £75m striker there.”
