Borussia Monchengladbach are ready to break their transfer record to land Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
The 20-year-old is currently halfway through a two-year loan at the Bundesliga club but they want to make his switch permanent now.
Chelsea are still keen to keep hold of the Denmark international, who has been tipped as one for the future by youth coaches at Stamford Bridge.
But Monchengladbach are ready to test the Blues’ resolve by making an offer of £15m for Christensen.
Indeed, the club’s sporting director Max Eberl told Bild: “We’re in close contact. For Christensen, we’re ready to make a record transfer.”
Monchengladbach’s current transfer record stands at around £13m, but they may be forced to bid as much as £18m to land Christensen.
