Inter Milan have told Chelsea to forget about using Cesc Fabregas as a makeweight in a deal for Marcelo Brozovic.
The Blues are desperate to land the Croatian midfielder before Wednesday’s transfer deadline and they are locked in negotiations for him.
Inter only signed Brozovic this summer after making his loan move from Dinamo Zagreb permanent at a cost of £7million.
Chelsea’s interest, however, has persuaded them to cash in instantly as they are aware they could potentially bank over three times what they paid for the 23-year-old.
But, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have made it clear they do not want Fabregas as part of any deal.
Chelsea had been hoping to use the Spaniard as a makeweight, in order to keep the fee for the transfer down.
However, Inter have no desire to sign the former Arsenal man and would prefer any move for Brozovic to be made up of just cash.
