Everton are reportedly closing in on a deal for Wilfried Bony which would open the way for Romelu Lukaku to move to Chelsea.
Bony has struggled to settle at the Etihad Stadium with Manchester City and could be on his way to Everton in a player plus cash swap deal for John Stones.
At the same time that would hand their boss Ronald Koeman a ready-made high profile replacement should Chelsea be successful in luring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium international has been a target for Chelsea all summer and the 23-year-old is believed to be keen on a return to the club he left permanently in 2014 after two loan spells at West Brom and the Merseysiders.
Lukaku has said on several occasions he wants to leave Goodison Park and make a step up to a club regularly challenging for the top four in the Premier League and, even though Chelsea are not competing in Europe this season, the forward wants to team up with Antonio Conte.
Everton had valued Lukaku at £75m, although Chelsea want to spend £10m less than that.
