Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told the club’s players that Antonio Conte will be the manager next season, according to reports in Italy.
The Italian has been heavily tipped to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer as the Premier League champions look to replace Jose Mourinho.
Conte’s contract with the Italian national side expires after Euro 2016 and, after success with Juventus, he is eager to return to club management.
Chelsea too are keen on the 46-year-old with widespread reports claiming a deal is in place for him to take over.
And, according to Corriere dello Sport, Abramovich has told the Blues squad that Conte will definitely be in charge from next season.
The Russian is said to have held a team meeting at the club’s training ground in Cobham during which he made the announcement.
