Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has revealed that Chelsea made a bid of 58million euros for Kalidou Koulibaly over the summer.
The 25-year-old has been with the Naples-based outfit since 2014 and was reportedly a top-target for Antonio Conte before he turned his attention to David Luiz.
Conte is understood to have pursued Koulibaly for most of the summer but ultimately was left frustrated at Napoli’s refusal to budge on their valuation.
De Laurentiis has revealed that the Blues came in with 58million euros but he was not prepared to allow the Senegal international to leave this summer.
“My friend Conte will say it is not true but Chelsea offered me, in the last few days of the window, €58m for Koulibaly. I explained to them that this year I could not sell him, but we will see next year,” De Laurentiis said.
