Lukaku has been talking up a move away from Everton all summer but the club have yet to receive any bids for him and his agent hinted he could now stay put.

Batshuayi’s arrival also puts a question mark over the future of Diego Costa, who is still wanted by his former club Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea sources insist Costa is happy at Stamford Bridge and will not be sold, but Atletico continue to believe he could be tempted by a return to Spain.

The Blues have moved swiftly to nab Batshuayi, who scored 21 goals in France last season, and have beaten Crystal Palace, West Ham and Juventus to sign him.

Tottenham were also interested but moved on to other targets because they felt the asking price was far too high.

Chelsea made their move only after Palace had a £31m bid of their own accepted for Batshuayi, who scored with his first touch after coming off the bench for Belgium against Hungary on Sunday.
