Chelsea have had a bid for defender Alessio Romagnoli rejected by AC Milan, according to sources in Italy.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is still putting the finishing touches on his squad before the transfer window closes, and he is hoping to further bolster his defence.
Chelsea have been linked with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Giorgio Chiellini, but reports in Italy have claimed that they have now firmed up their interest for Romagnoli with an offer.
However, Milan are said to have swiftly rebuffed the approach, which was reportedly worth upwards of £25m.
The 21-year-old only arrived from Roma a year ago and impressed during his 34 Serie A outings last term.
Milan see him as an integral part of their future and are seemingly not willing to sell him at any price before the close of the window.
