It may be the international break, but there has been some exciting news for Chelsea fans.
Not only did Diego Costa score twice for Spain on Monday evening, exciting academy graduates Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Lewis Baker and Nathaniel Chalobah were all on target for England’s Under-21s.
Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah – who was on loan at Napoli last term – are in and around Antonio Conte’s senior squad, while Baker is on loan in the Netherlands with Vitesse Arnhem.
Gareth Southgate’s side were 6-1 winners against Norway in a UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifier in Colchester. It put England on course to reach next year’s tournament in Poland as they head to Kazakhstan and then host Bosnia in October in their final games.
Marcus Rashford stole the show with an impressive hat-trick on his U21s debut, but it was also promising as Sam Allardyce saw four different scorers on the score sheet.

After the Manchester United striker’s opener for England, the hosts doubled their lead nine minutes later when Chalobah smashed in an impressive volley from close range from James Ward-Prowse’s free kick.
Loftus-Cheek made it 3-0 after 64 minutes when he swept in off the post and Baker wrapped up the rout with four minutes left when he steered in Ward-Prowse’s corner.
