Chelsea FC news: N’Golo Kante is yet to prove his worth under Antonio Conte, Harry Redknapp tells talkSPORT
Harry Redknapp believes N’Golo Kante is yet to show his worth since leaving Leicester City to join Chelsea.
The French midfielder was a key part of the Foxes’ title-winning side last term, in his first season after arriving from Caen in a £5.6m deal.
He made 40 appearances in a City shirt before playing four times for the hosts at Euro 2016.
A £32million move to join Antonio Conte’s Stamford Bridge revolution followed and the 25-year-old is yet to find his feet in west London.
“I don’t know the boy but is it all a bit overwhelming for him?
“He’s come to the big city, living in London, [it is] probably a different life.”
Kante has started all six of Chelsea’s Premier League matches so far this term.
After making an impressive start in their opening three games, they are now without a win in their last three after drawing with Swansea and losing to Liverpool and Arsenal.
In the recent 3-0 defeat at the Emirates, Kante, alongside Nemanja Matic, was overrun in midfield as the Gunners ran riot. His role is still unknown in Conte’s system, as he has been dropping deeper and been largely ineffective.
Redknapp continued: “It’s a big test for him.
“He wouldn’t be the first one that’s come away from a smaller club like Leicester and gone to a Chelsea or a big London club and not produced.
“Let’s hope he does it but at the moment he is not showing it.”
