Chelsea have opened talks with Roma concerning the transfer of Radja Nainggolan, reports in Italy claim.

The Belgian midfielder is considered one of the best in his position in Europe, playing 102 times for the Giallorossi since moving to the club in 2014.

Antonio Conte is well aware of the 27-year-old’s talents, having coached in Serie A whilst Nainggolan has been playing in the division, and he wants the energetic midfielder at Stamford Bridge as his first signing when he takes over as Chelsea manager this summer.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini today met with Chelsea officials to oversee a deal, with the Blues wanting the transfer wrapped up before the end of the season.

Conte, who will link up with Chelsea following the end of Euro 2016, is also keen to bring Kostas Manolas to West London this summer. Manolas, who plays for Roma like Nainggolan, is a centre-back, and the Blues are readying an offer for his services.
