Roma centre-back Antonio Rudiger is edging closer to a £20million move to Chelsea, according to reports in Italy.
The Giallorossi are said to be holding out for at least £20million for the Germany international, who has made his country’s Euro 2016 squad, but Chelsea’s valuation has been more like £15million for the 23-year-old.
However, it is now claimed the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement and the Blues are willing to meet the asking price and get a deal done as soon as possible.
Several other Roma stars, like Radja Nainggolan, Miralem Pjanic and Kostas Manolas, have also been watched by Chelsea recently but a switch for Rudiger looks the most likely to happen first, possibly even before the Euros, which start on Friday.
Incoming boss Antonio Conte knows he needs to bolster the Chelsea squad, with centre-back an area of concern despite veteran skipper John Terry signing a new one-year extension at the end of the season.
