The 26-year-old has been a revelation since joining the Blues from Fiorentina for £24million during the summer of 2016, as he has netted eight goals in 38 Premier League appearances from left-back, while he also claimed top-flight glory with Antonio Conte’s side last term.
The former Spanish youth international remains fully committed to the Chelsea cause, but he has now confirmed his desire to return to Spain at some stage of his career, as he has spent most of his time to date playing in either England or Italy.
“I’m very happy at Chelsea but I would like to return to Spain one day,’ Alonso told Cadena Ser. “Before I retire I’d like to play in La Liga. I haven’t played much there.”
Alonso’s immediate priority remains the Premier League and he is full focused on helping Chelsea return to winning ways when they travel to Selhurst Park to take on bottom of the table Crystal Palace on Saturday.
He added: “I’m very happy in London. All I think about is the game against Crystal Palace.”
