Championship round-up: Nottingham Forest move clear of relegation zone, while Cardiff dent Bristol City’s promotion hopes

Cardiff City 2-1 Bristol City

The Robins suffered a dent to their promotion hopes as they narrowly lost out to the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Peter Whittingham scored a first half penalty to give Neil Warnock’s side the lead before Souleymane Bamba added a second with 25 minutes to play.

Lee Tomlin pulled one back for the visitors but it wasn’t enough as the Robins failed to find an equaliser.

Nottingham Forest 3-1 Birmingham City

Forest moved clear of the relegation zone with a close fought win over the Blues at the City Ground.

Goals from Eric Lichaj and Apostolos Vellios looked to have sealed a comfortable win but Lukas Jutkiewicz scored for Gary Rowet’s men to create a nervy ending.

But Hildeberto Perreira scored a third goal for Forest late on to seal all three points.
