Championship round-up: Aston Villa held by Huddersfield while Leeds earn late draw

Aston Villa were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield after an 86th minute equaliser from Michael Hefele.

Roberto Di Matteo’s side took the lead after 25 minutes through big summer signing Ross McCormack but the Villans were unable to build on their 3-0 win against Rotherham on the weekend.

Elsewhere, Chris Wood saved Garry Monk’s Leeds United with an injury-time goal at home to Fulham.

Tom Cairney gave the Londoners a 77th minute lead and with the pressure already growing on Garry Monk, he will have been relieved to see Wood hit the back of the net.

Promoted Burton Albion sprang the surprise of the night with a 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Kyle McFadzean grabbed an early lead for the hosts before Jack Hunt equalised from the spot for Wednesday. However Burton blew them away with goals from Jackson Irvine and Lloyd Dyer to win the three points.
