Championship results: Canaries go top, Magpies win, and Leeds lose away

Barnsley 2 – 4 Fulham

The Cottagers came from behind twice to beat the Tykes in a hugely entertaining game at Oakwell.

Barnsley took the lead through Marley Watkins before Lucas Piazon equalised for the visitors. But the hosts reclaimed their advantage when Sam Winnall struck home with minutes left to play in the first half.

Sone Aluko levelled the scores again on the stroke of half time but Fulham claimed all three points thanks to second half goals from Scott Malone and Chris Martin, while Josh Scowen was sent off for the hosts.


Blackburn Rovers 0 – 0 Ipswich Town

Rovers remain in the relegation zone after a dour draw with the Tractor Boys at Ewood Park.

Ipswich Town move to 17th place following the result.


Brighton & Hove Albion 2 – 1 Preston North End

The Seagulls maintained their place in the play-off positions after coming from a goal down to beat the Lilywhites.

Jordan Hugill gave the away side the lead in the first half with after capitalising on some dreadful Brighton defending.

But the hosts scored two goals in the second half through Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray to seal a vital win.


Derby County 1 – 0 Leeds United

The Rams dented Garry Monk’s promotion hopes with a close fought win at Pride Park Stadium.

Johnny Russell scored just before the hour mark to lift the hosts up to 19th place in the table.


Newcastle United 3 – 1 Brentford

The Magpies kept pace at the top of the table as they convincingly beat the Bees in front of a packed St James’ Park.

First half goals from Ciaran Clark and Dwight Gayle gave Rafa Benitez’s a commanding lead before Gayle added a third in the second half.

Scott Hogan scored a consolation goal for the visitors, who missed their opportunity to move into the play-off places.


Norwich City 3 – 1 Rotherham United

The Canaries moved to the top of the table after beating the Millers at Carrow Road.

Wes Hoolahan opened the scoring in the first half for the hosts before Cameron Jerome doubled their lead just past the hour mark.

Dexter Blackstock halved the deficit with just over fifteen minutes left but Steven Naismith added a third late on to seal the win.


Wigan Athletic 0 – 0 Burton Albion

The Latics shared a point with the Brewers at the DW Stadium.

Both sides remain clear of the relegation places following the result.


Queens Park Rangers 1 – 1 Reading

The Hoops shared a point with the Royals as the two sides played out a draw at Loftus Road.

Pawel Wszolek put the home side ahead in the first half but Daniel Williams equalised within seven minutes to earn his side a point
