Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to rule out a loan move for Manchester United defender Paddy McNair.
McNair is the latest name to be linked to the club as the Scottish champions target up to four new signings to strengthen their squad.
The Northern Irishman is understood to be one of the players that has been told he can go on loan by United boss Jose Mourinho as he trims his own squad in readiness for the new Premier League campaign.
Rodgers, when asked about Celtic’s interest in McNair, could not rule out a move.
Speaking after Celtic’s 3-1 defeat to Barcelona on Saturday, the ex-Liverpool boss said: “I can’t deny or say yes or no on that because there have been so many players who have been thrown our way or linked with Celtic.
“We are still a long way away from where we want to be but I can’t deny the mental strength of the players. Ideally I would like another four.
“It just takes time. I respect that and understand that but in terms of assessing the squad before I came in and likewise having been in now for six weeks or so that is what I would say we would be at.”
