Cats target Swans star

Sunderland are being linked with a move for Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis, who looks set to leave the Liberty Stadium this summer.

Gomis has been a regular fixture in the first-team squad, although not always a starter, since arriving at the Liberty Stadium back in 2014 from Lyon on a free transfer, making 64 Premier League appearances and bagging 13 goals.

However, the 30-year-old was criticised for some poor performances last season and almost left for the Middle East during the January transfer window.

Now reports in France say that the Black Cats want the France international, who has two years left on his Swansea contract, and there are indications Swans manager Francesco Guidolin is happy to let him go.

Gomis is reportedly keen on a return to France with Marseille, but they are unlikely to be able to match his wages and, as a result, a move to Sunderland remains a possible option for the forward.
