The Red Devils made a positive start to life under Jose Mourinho, winning their opening three Premier League games.

However, after losing to Manchester City they went on to taste defeat against Feyenoord in the Europa League and Watford at the weekend.

Carrick played a role in helping United to get back to winning ways on Wednesday with a 3-1 triumph over Northampton in the EFL Cup.

The England international feels now is the time to kick on if they want to challenge for the title as they prepare to face Leicester next.

Carrick said: “We had a setback last week.

“But it’s not going to finish off our season. It’s about how we react to it. We had a good start with the first three or four games of the season and we want to get back to winning. We did that tonight.

“It’s a big game on Saturday and we want to get our season back on the right road. Come the end of the season we want to be challenging.”

Punters using their free bet may want to back the Red Devils to make it back-to-back wins for the first time in September as they welcome the Premier League champions to Old Trafford on Saturday.
