Co-chairman David Sullivan expects new signing and “top player” Jonathan Calleri to be a big hit for West Ham this season.
The 22-year-old has joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal from Uruguayan outfit Deportivo Maldonado and could make a quick debut in Thursday’s Europa League clash against Astra Giurgiu.
Calleri is a fresh option up front for boss Slaven Bilic and Sullivan believes he will bring more goals to the frontline.
“We expect him to be one of our top goalscorers this season,” Sullivan told the club’s official website.
“He’s a top player and was the leading goalscorer this season in the Copa Libertadores, the South American version of the Champions League.”
“He is the immediate back up for Argentina who are the number one rated team in the world,” he added.
