Jonathan Calleri could make his West Ham debut at Astra Giurgui on Thursday following Andre Ayew’s injury blow.
Summer arrival Ayew sustained a serious thigh injury against Chelsea and is set for a significant period on the sidelines.
On-loan Calleri could come into the side for the trip to Romania when West Ham take on Astra, the side who beat them at the same stage of the Europa League last season.
Another summer capture, Sofiane Feghouli, is also missing through injury for the Europa League play-off first leg while Aaron Cresswell and Manuel Lanzini are also absent.
Star man Dimitri Payet did not travel, Arthur Masuaku is cup-tied and Darren Randolph will step in for Adrian in goal.
Randolph would probably have replaced Adrian for the cup match anyway but the Hammers’ first choice hasn’t trained since the defeat to Chelsea, having been on the receiving end of a controversial late challenge from Diego Costa.
