Alan Pardew is expected to recall Yohan Cabaye to Crystal Palace’s starting XI for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham.
Cabaye was a substitute in last week’s 1-0 home defeat by West Brom but, alongside fellow midfielders James McArthur and Jordon Mutch and new defender James Tomkins, is considered to be sufficiently match fit to start.
Christian Benteke’s proposed transfer from Liverpool is set to be confirmed on Friday but not in time for him to feature at White Hart Lane.
Pardew is without Yannick Bolasie and Mile Jedinak, who were both sold during the past week, and knows his side are in for a tough time as they look to bounce back from the Baggies defeat.
“(Spurs have) an energy in their squad,” said Pardew. “They haven’t had to make wholesale changes in that group because they’re so young, and they’ll be better for the experience of last year.
“Their first home game is not an ideal draw for us. We’ll have to be very, very good to get something there.”
Provisional squad: Hennessey, Mandanda, Speroni, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Kelly, Dreher, Cabaye, Ledley, Boateng, McArthur, Williams, Townsend, Zaha, Puncheon, Campbell, Wickham, Appiah.
