West Ham youngster Sam Byram will be able to learn a lot from former Real Madrid star Alvaro Arbeloa, according to Slaven Bilic.
Former Leeds United defender Byram must have feared the worst when the Hammers snapped up the Spain international on a free transfer on deadline day, making his already difficult path to the first team even trickier.
Bilic, though, believes Byram will benefit from the knowledge and experience that the former Liverpool star brings to the squad.
He said: “His CV is top of course he was at Liverpool so he knows the league, and he spent, what ten years at Real Madrid, won everything.
“We were looking to strengthen that position at least short term and he was available and he was the perfect option for what we needed.
“He’s coming here as a player, not as a mentor, not as a coach but he can also be a great help for our youngsters, mostly for Sam of course.”
