Honours even between Burton and Wigan
Tom Naylor’s fifth goal of the season secured a 1-1 Sky Bet League One draw for Burton in their top-of-the-table clash with Wigan at the Pirelli Stadium.
Wigan went ahead just seven minutes into the game when Michael Jacobs’ left-footed cross from the right evaded striker Will Grigg in the penalty area and crept inside Jon McLaughlin’s post.
Albion, with just one goal in their last five games, were on the back foot but battled bakc inot the game with Naylor rising superbly at the back post to head Matty Palmer’s free-kick beyond Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Nigel Clough’s side had the better of the second half exchanges although neither keeper was seriously tested.
Mark Duffy headed over Lucas Akins’ cross and a late opportunity for Wigan’s Chris McCann went high and wide as neither side could find a winner.
Wigan remain three points clear at the top of the table as a result with Burton still second, three points ahead of third-placed Walsall.
