Southampton chief scout Bill Green saw Werder Bremen’s Zlatko Junuzovic in action on Saturday in Austria’s defeat to the Netherlands.
Green was listed among the scouts in attendance for the Euro 2016 warm-up clash at the Ernst Happel Stadium, alongside prominent figures from Arsenal, Sunderland, Everton and West Brom.
The talent spotter was also seen at Austria’s 2-1 loss to Turkey in March where Junuzovic scored the hosts’ goal.
The 28-year-old was linked to both Southampton and West Ham last week and it seems there could be something in those reports from Kicker magazine.
Both Premier League clubs could offer something Werder Bremen couldn’t with the Bundesliga club finishing only 13th last season and missing out on Europe.
Junuzovic is known for his ability on the ball, with a very good passing range and is also a free-kick specialist.
