British drivers in Calais call for heightened security following violent migrant attacks

19 Aug

Road Haulage Association operations manager Rhys Williams, 53, was attacked as he drove to the ferry terminal last week. A gang threw a rock at his Mercedes, causing damage costing several thousand pounds in repairs.

He said: “Instead of targeting HGVs migrants are looking to stop any vehicle by any means.

“If there had been a child in the back of my car they could have been killed. It’s a war zone.

‘Without the French military stationed there someone is going to lose their life.”
