Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens could make his first appearance of the season, having missed the trip to Derby through suspension and the EFL Cup clash against Colchester with a knock.
Centre-backs Connor Goldson (knee) and Uwe Hunemeier (groin) are not yet fit to return to action.
Defender Hildeberto Pereira will be fit for Nottingham Forest after coming off injured against Burton.
Goalkeeper Dorus de Vries is out while defender Danny Fox is suspended.
Brighton won both meetings between the two sides last season, 1-0 at the Amex Stadium in August 2015 and 2-1 at the City Ground in April.
BBC Sussex’s Johnny Cantor:
“After an opening day draw at Derby, Brighton will want to replicate the 1-0 home win against Forest on the opening day of last season, which sparked an unbeaten run of 21 games and laid the foundation for their promotion push.
“Manager Chris Hughton and Albion fans will be hoping that returning striker Glenn Murray, back in blue and white stripes on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, will get into his stride quickly.
“Keeping hold of star players Lewis Dunk, Dale Stephens and Anthony Knockaert may be essential for success across the whole season but a first league win will provide a huge boost in a busy first month of the campaign.”
