A massive rescue operation is underway after 110 people are reportedly trapped inside a cable car in the Chamonix region, eastern France.
The stranded group were travelling from Aiguille du Midi to the Hellbronner peak, some 11,358 ft above sea level.
Emergency services have been drafted in to help with the high altitude rescue attempt.
The rescue attempt is said to be dependent on the weather, particularly the wind conditions.
Mathieu Dechavanne, CEO of the gondola management company, said: “This will take some time, but the weather is good.”
