Monaco full-back Fabinho has indicated he would be prepared to turn down a move to Manchester United in favour of staying put.
The Red Devils have been watching the Brazilian very closely recently, taking in both legs of Monaco’s Champions League play-off tie with Villarreal in which Fabinho scored in both matches.
It had been claimed the 22-year-old had an agreement in place with the Ligue 1 side that he would be allowed to leave the club this month if he helped them qualify for the Champions League group stages.
Having accomplished his mission, Fabinho had been tipped to make a move to Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts.
However, with Champions League football not on offer with United, the South American has now indicated he is prepared to stay with Monaco for the foreseeable future.
“With the Champions League, it’s not bad staying at Monaco,” said Fabinho. “I’m not certain of staying, but at the same time, there’s more of a chance of me staying than leaving.”
