Arsene Wenger admits he needs another striker at Arsenal if his side are to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners have already failed with a move to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City, while Wenger has also struggled to conclude a deal for Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette.
However the search goes on and Wenger admits he needs someone to slot home the chances they were creating last season as they finished second behind the Foxes.
“We have [Alexis] Sanchez, we have [Theo] Walcott,” Wenger responded when quizzed about the lack of cover for Olivier Giroud.
Even so, Wenger admits another goalscorer is needed.
He added: “We were the highest team in expected chances created. We were the highest team in quality of chances created in the final third.
And we were not at our level in the finishing qualities and I think that’s where we want to improve.”
Wenger has come in for criticism again this summer following a lack of new signings, but he has kept his powder dry and will attempt to spend big on a new striker and central defender before the transfer window closes.
