Stoke boss Mark Hughes could not hide his disappointment after the 4-0 defeat against Tottenham but admits they deserved to win.
The Potters remain in ninth spot in the Premier League and have won only one of their last six matches, while Tottenham cut the gap on leaders Leicester City to just five points.
England stars Harry Kane and Dele Alli notched two goals apiece for Spurs, and Hughes was man enough to admit his side had been completely outplayed.
Hughes had plenty of praise for Tottenham after the game and suggested they may well overhaul Leicester in the race for the title.
“We are disappointed with what we produced,” Hughes said. “But Spurs on the night were very impressive – stronger, faster and they had more power in the team than what we were able to put out there.
“Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition. They are quick and sharp and have got that edge that chasing major trophies gives you.
“With their mentality at the moment, you wouldn’t bet against them catching Leicester.”
