Crystal Palace have been joined by Middlesbrough in the race to sign Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar.
The 23-year-old is a product of the Viola’s youth academy and made his debut in 2009, although he has spent time out on loan between 2012 and 2014.
Babacar remained with the Serie A club last term and scored six times in just 13 appearances in all competitions. A lack of game-time has alerted a number of other clubs to his services with Palace, Everton and Watford all keen.
However, according to reports in Italy, Middlesbrough are hoping to beat off competition from their Premier League rivals to complete a deal for the striker.
It is understood that Fiorentina have placed a 15million euros price-tag on the striker as he still has three years left to run on his current deal, and Boro are willing to pay it.
