Stoke are hoping to sign Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony on loan but face strong competition for his services.
City boss Pep Guardiola has deemed Bony surplus to requirements and the Etihad Stadium outfit are actively seeking a new club for the Ivorian forward before the transfer window closes.
The Potters are in the hunt for the former Swansea man after boss Mark Hughes admitted he may have to turn his attentions away from West Brom striker Saido Berahino.
However, Everton are also keen to boost their attacking options to ease the pressure on Romelu Lukaku and L’Equipe say they have made a bid for the 27-year-old.
Like Stoke, West Ham United are also understood to be keen to take the forward on loan with a view to a permanent switch, but City would prefer an outright sale and that could put Everton in the box seat.
Meanwhile, Hughes has not completely given up on Berahino and Baggies boss Tony Pulis admits there is a good chance he will be on the move before the deadline.
