“I asked how many of them had heard of Springsteen, U2, The Who, Tom Waits or Creedence Clearwater Revival.
“They looked at me as if I was crazy so I thought, we have to change this. So I pick my moments to throw in bits and pieces.
“Then when David Bowie passed away, I asked if any of them had heard the song ‘Heroes’. None of them knew the song and I couldn’t believe it. What world are these guys living in?
“I’ve been to over 50 Springsteen shows and I used to speak to players about his song ‘The Ties That Bind’.
“In life when you’re working with people, get to know people, have a team and something special together, you can’t break those ties.”
