N’Golo Kante has confirmed he snubbed the chance to join Manchester United in favour of moving to Chelsea this summer.
The France international completed a £32million move to Stamford Bridge in July after the Blues beat off competition from several clubs, including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, to secure his signature.
The 25-year-old has now claimed he also had a chance to move to United before sealing the deal with Chelsea, revealing he got a call from Jose Mourinho soon after helping Leicester win the Premier League.
Despite being impressed by the personal call from the former Chelsea manager, Kante says he always had his heart set on moving to west London after he spoke to current Blues boss Antonio Conte.
"It was amazing to have Mourinho call me, even though I'd been warned before how he would appeal to me," Kante said. "I listened to his arguments about why I should move to United.
"But at that time I was hesitant between staying at Leicester or leaving for Chelsea.
"My discussions with them were already well under way. But when I spoke, I had a good feeling with Conte."
