Everton defender John Stones would snub Chelsea as he holds out for a move to Manchester City, SiaS sources have been told.
The central defender is a target for Chelsea and a number of top Premier League clubs, while Catalan giants Barcelona are also thought to be weighing up a move.
Stones’ form has suffered during the second part of the campaign, as a result of the continued speculation around his Goodison Park future, but that has not deterred Chelsea.
Sources close to his circle, however, have told SiaS that the 21-year-old is now braced for a move and the Citizens are in pole position to complete a deal.
Incoming City chief Pep Guardiola has identified the England man, who is valued at around £45m by the Toffees’ board, as a target.
Stones is happily settled in the north west and the opportunity of working under the former Barcelona coach is believed to have tipped the scales over Chelsea and Manchester United.
