Cesc Fabregas has committed his immediate future to Chelsea but says a return to Spain in the future is an option.
Fabregas has had an indifferent season with the Blues, leading to suggestions he could be on the move this summer, with Real Madrid known to be interested.
The Spanish international cannot rule out a return to his homeland at some point, but for now he wants to right the wrongs of this season, which has been a disaster for the club.
“Why not? Right now I am not thinking about it because I have a lot to settle at Chelsea after this season. I am not really thinking about anything else, but, in my opinion, the Spanish league is the strongest next to the English,” Fabregas told Marca.
“A return to Barcelona would no longer be possible, even if I wanted to. The Barcelona stage of my career is over, it is closed.”
It remains to be seen whether Fabregas is firmly in the plans of new boss Antonio Conte, but there is a very good chance he is and will be staying at Stamford Bridge for at least one more season.
